How to live wisely

…Was the title of an article in The New York Times in July 2015 in which Richard Light, a professor at Harvard, explained why this prestigious academic institution began to introduce sessions for their students, very much like the ones In Your Element has been offering to schools, businesses and other groups for many years.

Students had begun to ask for the opportunity to discuss questions like, ‘What does it mean to live a productive life?’.  So, a noncredit seminar called “Reflecting on Your Life was created;  three 90-minute discussion sessions for groups of students, with well over 100 students participating each year. A format we find works well in schools and with groups of students, although we usually suggest the content as a full day training for adults.

PERSONALITY, PURPOSE AND PASSION are the headings we have been using for our sessions in schools since 2008 and it’s interesting to read in an article by Richard Branson ‘You Can’t Fake Personality, Purpose and Passion’ that these are the three areas he chooses to concentrate on as being important when considering hiring staff at Virgin.

If international companies and world famous universities consider it important to consider questions like, Personality, Purpose and Passion’ or put another way, ‘Who am I?’, ‘Where am I going?’ and ‘How will I get there?’ it’s worth taking notice.

We can come to your school, workplace or group to run a team day; we can join any combination of friends, a family or colleagues for an informal event in a home or we can work one to one with you.
